2008 Slo-Pitch Ontario Provincial Championship Guidelines

ENTRY FEE - $385 payable by PayPal or by certified cheque or money order. No uncertified cheques will be accepted. for registered teams. All teams must be fully registered members of SPO. (Affiliate teams must upgrade to full membership.)

STARTING TIMES - All teams MUST be prepared to start their first game on the Friday of the weekend of play at 12:00 pm (noon). First game starting time will be available on the SPO website by Tuesday morning prior to your weekend of play. Team contact and players should be at the complex at least 45 min. prior to their first game to register. Players may not participate until they have registered. Teams must be prepared to play and games may start up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game times.

AWARDS & TRAVEL EXPENSES - All divisions will compete for prestigious Slo-Pitch Ontario Provincial Championship Awards. Travel Expenses will also be awarded at the Slo-Pitch Ontario Provincial Championships in all divisions.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT - The double elimination with 3 scheduled games guaranteed format will be used in all divisions of play with six (6) teams or more.

TOURNAMENT ROSTER - Your Provincial Championship roster MUST be the same as your 2008 Slo-Pitch Ontario Association Registered Roster. Absolutely no player substitutions or changes are allowed to this roster.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY - A player may participate on ONE Mens or Ladies team in the Provincial Championships. They may also play on ONE Masters and/or ONE Coed team. If game times conflict the player must choose their team.

NOTE: THE PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE PLAYED OVER FOUR WEEKENDS, BUT IS CONSIDERED ONE TOURNAMENT.

TEAM UNIFORM - All Teams MUST have matching uniform tops with numbers no less than 4 inches in size

PHOTO IDENTIFICATION - All eligible players must have TWO pieces of Identification with them at each game. One piece bearing photo and date of birth, address and signature. Examples: Drivers License, Age of Majority etc.
Slo-Pitch Ontario Association tournament directors may check ID at any time during the tournament. All players will be required to produce proper ID to be eligible to participate in tournament. If any players can not do so they will be subject to disqualification. No Identification - No Playing in the Slo-Pitch Ontario Provincial Championship Tournament.

EQUIPMENT
Bases - Will be supplied by the Tournament Committee (including double base)
Mat - 2'x3' Mat will be used and supplied by the tournament committee.
Balls - Worth “Wicked” optic yellow softballs. Coed Divisions D & E will be using the 12" Worth RIF10 ball.
Bats - Only official softball bats that are approved for SPO play may be used. Information on approved bats is available on this website. Click here to view the altered bat procedure.

RULES AND GUIDELINES - All rules and guidelines including Masters, Coed and 3 Pitch programs, Protests and Ejection will be solely governed by the 2007-2008 Official Softball Canada Rule Book, the Slo-Pitch Ontario Association Handbook and Tournament Operating Rules and Guidelines. Rule books are available for you to purchase through Slo-Pitch Ontario and a SPO Handbook is provided with your SPO team registration for the year.

OFFICIALS - All officials at the Provincial Championships will be officially carded Softball Ontario umpires.

ACCOMMODATION AND MAPS - The Host hhotel is the Best Western Lamplighter Inn & Conference Centre. However many hotels have cooperated with SPO in assisting our members. Various rooms in London and surrounding area have been blocked off for our Championships. Teams are expected to use and support the participating hotels. WITHDRAWAL / REFUNDS - Teams wishing to withdraw must notify the SPO office in writing. A refund of the Entry Fee, less a $25.00 administration charge will be processed. There will be NO REFUNDS if team withdraws less than 2 weeks prior to date of tournament.
